Your Dust Mask Guide

Ever wonder what N95 is referring to? How about R95 and P100? Well, you’re about to get a whole lot smarter!

As you know, all respirator filters and dust masks have a rating that consists of a letter and a number. The letters are N, R, and P refer to particulate respirators. Just so you know, particulate filters protect against airborne particles such as dust, mists, and liquids but do not protect against gasses and vapors.

N means the filter is not oil proof.

R means the filter is oil resistant up to 8 hours.

P means it is oil proof for over 8 hours.

The number is 95, 97, and 100 refer to the percent of particles it removes from the air.

Not all dust masks provide a firm seal on your head and particles can still slip through the sides so make sure you tighten those straps to get the most secure fit to your face.

At Gorvex.com we have a variety of dust masks which contour to the shape of your nose and face so that you have the best fit possible. The Moldex 2600 N95 disposable respirator has a soft nose cushion for all-day comfort.

Now that you are well versed in respirator code, go get ‘em!
